Ms. Jo Chambliss

My late husband, Harvey Chambliss lived at the Medical Center and I was so impressed with the compassionate care they provided him that I decided to move to an outside Garden Apartment over 12 years ago, and never once regretted it. It is easy to find friends and enjoy the many amenities/activities offered at Trinity Village. Their continuous care retirement community makes aging better because they offer three levels of care. Remembering Mr. Allen

Mr. Billy J. Allen was a resident of the Pine Bluff area for over 52 years. He married the love of his life on September 11, 1960, and had three children. He worked at AP&L for 42 years and retired in 1989. After retiring Mr. Allen and his lovely wife Ruby enjoyed traveling throughout the country. Mr. Allen loved country music, especially playing it. He recorded music in Nashville and local music studios. He remembered when KATV first opened in Pine Bluff in 1953; he played on the “Home Folks Party Program” which aired once a week. Mr. Allen played the electric guitar for about 24 years and enjoyed playing his guitar for the residents at Trinity Village. He and a few of his friends would often get together on either a Friday or Saturday afternoon and have a good time singing, playing, and entertaining. Mr. Allen lived a good life. While he was a resident at Trinity Village, he would tell people, “I am living with the nicest people that I have ever lived with, here at Trinity Village Assisted Living. The staff goes overboard helping us here,” said Mr. Allen “They feed us too good, I don’t ever get hungry … and you can quote me on that,” he would add with a smile.

As a small child, I liked playing with dolls and paper dolls. As I grew older I played baseball and I liked watching sports, especially football and baseball. After graduating from Pine Bluff High School I went to work at Myers Bakery. I worked there for 15 years doing the bookkeeping and checking-in the drivers. My next job was at Ben Pearson where I worked for 35 years in the credit department until I retired. All that time I took care of my mother until 1985 when she passed. I never married but I had good friends around me all the time. I had four or five very good girlfriends as a teenager and we remain friends throughout adulthood.
